Tribal Tapestry Global Research Participant Agreement

Welcome to Tribal Tapestry

At Tribal Tapestry, we enable our customers to discover more about themselves through DNA testing services. This initiative not only supports our business but also contributes to societal benefits, such as enhancing our understanding of global population makeup and health trends. Our research aims to improve current services and innovate new ones.

Purpose of the Research

The Tribal Tapestry Global Research Project is dedicated to studying genetics to elucidate the connections among all humans and the impact of genetics on our health and lifestyles. Our findings may lead to patents and other intellectual property. While it is our intent to publish these findings, only aggregated and anonymous data will be shared to ensure privacy and contribute to long-term societal benefits. The scope of our research might evolve, but the underlying intention will focus on collaborative efforts with prominent academics and scientists. Your participation will involve sharing de-identified genetic data and other related information for research purposes.

Ethical Standards and Data Use

All collected data and samples will be used strictly for ethically approved and scientifically valid research. Robust safeguards, compliant with ISO:27001 standards, protect the confidentiality of your data. You retain control over how your DNA and the resultant data are utilized, with the option to opt-out of new research projects at any time.

Research Types and Methodology

Our research supports ongoing advancements in health, lifestyle, and well-being services. We are particularly focused on mapping global genetic ancestries to illustrate our interconnectedness, using this data to refine our Tribal Tapestry offerings. Participation involves engaging with surveys through your online portal, designed to be insightful and efficient.

Data Analysis and Information Sharing

Your DNA and derived information will be analyzed anonymously, without being linked to your identity. Full details about specific research initiatives will be available on the Tribal Tapestry website, although the scope and type of research may be subject to change.

Funding

The Tribal Tapestry Global Research Project is funded by Tribal Tapestry, a for-profit organization. Additional funding may be secured as the project expands.

Future Research Use

The future use of our research database may adapt to new societal benefits that are not currently foreseeable. We commit to using the data and samples in ways that emphasize our shared human connections and the role of genetics in health and lifestyle.

Participant Communication and Feedback

You will have access to your raw genetic data file for download via the Tribal Tapestry secure platform. Updates on research progress and findings will be communicated through the email linked to your account, and it is your responsibility to keep this contact information current.

Risks, Benefits, and Consent Withdrawal

Participation involves risks, such as unexpected personal discoveries. We employ strict information security measures under ISO:27001 to minimize data risks. You can withdraw consent via our provided mechanisms—ranging from no further contact to full anonymization of your data. These options are exclusive to Tribal Tapestry research projects.

Data Protection Rights

Participants have rights under the General Data Protection Legislation, detailed in our Privacy Statement available on our website. It highlights how we manage and safeguard your information, noting that fully deleting used genetic data may not be feasible.

Consent Agreement

By participating in the Tribal Tapestry research, you acknowledge understanding of the project's purpose, the voluntary nature of your participation, and your right to withdraw at any time. Your consent accommodates potential future changes in the research's scope that align with the project's initial purpose.
